Tove Lo returns with introspective short film "Fire Fade"

"My head and my ego are the same thing now; everything is so beautiful but so cold. Where did the fire go?" So begins Tove Lo's latest short movie "Fire Fade", which follows her last short film from the Lady Wood era, "Fairy Dust". The two take place in the same motel setting and "Fire Fade" features five tracks from Lady Wood.

Her second collaboration with director Tim Erem, the twenty-nine-year-old Swedish singer incorporates her electro-pop into an introspective, quirky short that has Tove Lo wrestling with herself and her emotions in a more metaphorical way than "Fairy Dust". Intertwined with her music are softly spoken interludes: musings on everything from life and love to sexuality. It is less angry and more frantic than "Fairy Dust". Tove Lo says of the video:

Fire Fade is for my fans. When the fairy dust starts to wear off and you can't fully reach the highs anymore — though you're desperately trying to — it’s a struggle with the mind.

"Fire Fade" is odd, raw, exciting, emotional, and oh-so effortlessly cool. It's cinematically beautiful while maintaining the cerebral, intellectual aspect of Tove Lo's music.
