At the end of the day, all you really have is yourself. BOYBOY, AKA LA-from-New Zealand artist Sam McCarthy understands this perhaps better than any musician out there today. He's been talked about on sites like Gorilla Vs. Bear and Pitchfork for pumping out insanely catchy singles that all deal with self-respect, self-confidence, and self-empowerment. At this point each BOYBOY song doubles as both a motivational speech and an undeniably great tune, and his new track "Me" is no different. Over a mechanical beat, a flute-like synth pad, and some tumbling electronic plinks, BOYBOY lets the listener know he doesn't sell himself too short. "I can't live without me. Want you there just to see," McCarthy sings, full of conviction. Add in some expert vocal layering and a funkified bass line and you've got yourself another BOYBOY song most definitely worth your time.
