IGLOOGHOST the "little god who creates a floating object & then disappears" has arrived with the hyperactively enthralling adrenaline rush of "Bug Thief" along with news of his incredibly exciting debut fictional album Neō Wax Bloom incoming on Flying Lotus' Brainfeeder September 29th (pre-order physical releases e.g. the vinyl with a sonic comic and character stickers on Bandcamp here). "Bug Thief" is playful and immensely creative, bright, colourful, and full of life, but it comes at an unfortunate hysterical price as Neō Wax Bloom upturns the biosphere and life cycles of Mamu – the world in which they all live.
“When a pair of giant eyeballs crash into the strange, misty world of Mamu, the mysterious forces that govern nature itself are disrupted. A life cycle of transforming creatures is thrown off balance, and the odd looking inhabitants of Mamu are forced to adapt to this calamity. These inhabitants include Yomi – a multicoloured pom-pom monk; Lummo – a wise blind witch training a band of melon coloured babies; and Uso – a sneaky bug thief hidden in a green cloak – as well as many others. As their respective stories begin to interlock, the mysteries surrounding the giant eyeballs are slowly revealed.” – Iglooghost
Meticulous, wacky, and a potential cult following akin to adventure time Neō Wax Bloom seems to be an unpredictable and chaotic musical story with extremely well thought out context, loveable individual characters, and culture. What will happen to the dwellers of Mamu? The species' will need to adapt in order to continue evolving, but will that be by running, plotting or fighting? Here at EARMILK we're excited for the next chapter.
