Los Angeles art-rap hero Rhys Langston is one of the more intriguing rising figures of the West Coast underground scene. The 23 year old wordsmith has been releasing his inventive brand of hip-hop since 2012, and has since released 7 projects that have refused to adhere to genre norms or at times even conventional song structure.
Today Rhys has decided to release the first single off of his upcoming debut album, Aggressively Ethnically Ambiguous (just going off the title this might be album of the year), a cheeky take on the Atlanta trap sound entitled "Jesus of Los Feliz". The Mvntra produced cut features Rhys utilizing the triplet-flow in order to wax-poetic on various topics, such as depression due to chronic unemployment, post-graduate woes, and the feeling of being misunderstood & tolkenized. Rhys himself describes the song as a "post-migos ballad to unemployment, micro-aggressions, and returning home to the city you thought you knew".
Listen above and make sure to peep Aggressively Ethnically Ambigious when it is released on September 1st!
