Taylor Malsey AKA Portland, OR musician Wilt, and the drummer for Drowse, has announced his debut record Hand Mirror as Wilt incoming on Good Cheer Records August 4th. The latest single, "Scurried", is a 2 and a half minute slice of bittersweet bedroom pop. Reminiscent of lo-fi contemporaries like Alex G and Elvis Depressedly, "Scurried" operates in the emotional ambiguity between melancholy and nostalgia, bringing about a mysterious yet enticing sensation when listening to the track that begs to be repeated. With some gorgeous Boards Of Canada-sounding synth leads adding to the ethereal energy of the song, its undeniable beauty is countered by the weight of the lyrics depicting an impending breakup. The myriad of textures and charming eccentricities – like the drone and violin string scraping section halfway through – help the track stand out even more.
