Friday brought big news for Billie Eilish fans. Not only did the pop singer announce a North American tour, she also dropped a stunning second track from her upcoming debut EP don't smile at me.

The "Ocean Eyes" singer has returned to the spotlight with "COPYCAT", a brooding track that drips cool. Eilish's voice is enticing, her beats are always interesting, and this single is no exception. Her signature syncopated electronica backs a sassy lyric almost too sophisticated for her young age. The fifteen-year-old has released several singles over the past two years, each one proving her to be perhaps the most intuitive teenager since Lorde to grace the pop scene.

Eilish is an uncontested talent with a gift for fusing poetry and the mundane. She creates an effortless and painfully accurate portrait of her teenage experience on "COPYCAT", which is about when "people do everything someone else does to the point that they are not even themselves anymore." "I don't belong to anyone but everybody knows my name," she whispers through my speakers, yanking me back to a time when my own fifteen-year-old self watched my peers desperately imitate and emulate the coolest people we knew in the hopes of getting invited to that party or asked out by that boy, losing ourselves before we had discovered who we were. Ironically in "COPYCAT" it's Eilish who we all want to be, if only because Billie Eilish lives in a coveted headspace: she already knows who she is. She couldn't write music like this if she didn't.

Upcoming tour dates:
10/4 – Constellation Room – Santa Ana, CA
10/5 – The Echo – Los Angeles, CA
10/7 – Rickshaw Stop – San Francisco, CA
10/9 – Holocene – Portland, OR
