There's just something special about Nordic pop music. Whether it's the aggressively avant-garde stylings of the Icelandic Björk, or the sweet, ephemeral output of Norwegian Susanne Sundfør, I've always found that Nordic artists seem to bring something different and fresh to the pop music scene. Which is why I was elated to discover this most recent outing from Swedish artist, Be The Bear. Real name Christina Wehage, Be The Bear is described as "… a one-woman industry, a fiercely independent female artist and producer" who writes and records her own songs in her commercial studio in Gothenburg, which is also home to her own record label Loud Attic Records and publishing company. Recently, she released her newest track "Erupt" through her label, and worldwide release via Kobalt Records.

One listen to the track and you can immediately hear the similarities to the Nordic contemporaries I listed above. The track feels like a Norse alt pop epic, and builds from a whisper into an inspiring vocal performance that is matched in power by an accompanied, 60-piece string orchestra. Vocally, Christina’s lyrics are intimate, passionate and cathartic, with an honesty reminiscent of some of Björk's earlier, more Lo-Fi records. So put your headphones on and check out the track above, and make sure you check the links below for more info.
