Every once in a while, you’ll hear a song that just jumps out at you. Olivia Grace’s “Shoestrings” is one of these songs. The track is dark and entrancing, with traces of a Lana Del Ray-meets-Halsey vibe. Olivia’s breathy vocals drift over an eerie instrumental that builds and broods. Paired on top are lyrics packed with metaphor exploring a character who feels like an outsider. Her unique style is both quirky & dark and brings with it a sense of innovation and a focus on introspective lyrics.

Of the song, she says:

"Shoestrings follows a character who feels out of place with herself and her environment. On one hand, the mood is slightly unapologetic while trying to make light of it all. On the other hand, there's a lot of distress and fear being felt."

The Brooklyn, NY transplant is bursting onto the music scene despite being brand new. In a few years’ time, I think she has what it takes to be a leading name in defining the genre of dark pop.
