I've said it before, and I'll say it again: the best part of this job is the constant stream of new, supa hot fire tracks that come our way… and of course, getting to share this hot fire with the world. Today, EARMILK has the pleasure of exclusively premiering the new track, "Before The Night" by LA-based electronic duo, Crush Effect (and featuring the electric vocals of Rebecca Jade).
Crush Effect consist of David Veith and Jesse Molloy, whom you may know from their previous and current gigs, as Jesse plays saxophone with Panic! At the Disco and Dave plays keys in Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe. The duo have been around since 2010 and have curated one of the most unique and complex sounds in electronic music today, seamlessly blending jazz, hip-hop, funk, pop, and bass music with stylistically impressive results. The track above, "Before The Night" seems to represent a newer direction toward future bass (although I think they'd describe it as future funk), with gorgeous synth melodies supported the rich, textural vocals of Ms. Rebecca Jade. In the words of the duo themselves:
We’ve had this track for a while and had been experimenting with different acapellas, for our live sets. We always wanted an original vocal on it but couldn’t find the right vocalist. Through another project we were introduced to the great Rebecca Jade. We thought it would be a really good fit.
