If the past year is any indication, everything San Holo touches turns to gold. In a recent mini mix for the weekly Monstercat Podcast, the Dutch tastemaker explains the origin story of DROELOE, a duo of fellow Dutchmen he's taken under his wing (pun intended) at bitbird, and is now collaborating with for the first time on "Lines of the Broken." "I think DROELOE's sound is one-of-a-kind," San says upon introducing the track "Bon Voyage." "It's super nostalgic, it's melodic, it just takes me to a special place whenever I listen to their music." Later in the mix, San explains that when he and a friend randomly discovered DROELOE on SoundCloud they had around 100 plays per song. "I'm really happy that right now they're getting the exposure they deserve."
Now DROELOE is a card-carrying member of the bitbird family, currently on tour with San himself, and "Lines of the Broken" is a triumphant offering to solidify their place in the future bass canon. Kicked off by CUT_'s otherworldly vocals and a soul-stirring nostalgic tone, this track feels like an instant classic.
