Trip-hop has always occupied an interesting space in electronic music. We're certainly long past it's heyday now, but for a time acts like Massive Attack and Portishead (and even some of the more electronic-y stuff from Radiohead) ruled the airwaves and had a massive influence on many of today's sonic engineers. That's why it was so great to get this track from Glaswegian based producer TURTLE (real name Jon Cooper), who is keeping the genre alive with his new track "Blood Type" featuring the vocals of Eliza Shaddad.

You can just hear the emotions he poured into the track's multi-layered soundscapes with cinematic builds, all complete with Shaddad's ethereal vocals. Definitely headphone music, like most trip-hop, the track is designed to give you both deep introspection and comfort. And if you like, the track is the lead single from TURTLE's upcoming album Human, set to be released later this year from Beatnik Creative.
