Sacramento emcee Chuuwee recently released the first part in his five part album series, Dystopia. According to a press release, this series "accounts for the current state of America and its rapid downfall towards becoming a dystopian landscape."
The first part in this series is Paradiso, which was released a few days ago. Paradiso consists of 10 tracks that discuss the world as we know it in a lighthearted nature. The album feels cohesive and complete while each track aids in the telling the introduction to the Dystopia story. The album takes an honest approach to the conversation about our world, specifically speaking on things like police brutality, and the state of the American government. Chuuwee uses a steady flow throughout Paradiso to convey his thoughts on these difficult topics. He discusses how people might think that the world now is in a paradise, thus the Paradiso title. The project could have very easily fell victim to a generally dark tone, but his approach is different. Paradiso comes together well with a combination of wavy raps and almost old school production. I'll be waiting for the rest of Dystopia.
