Gearing up for the release of his debut LP Two Hearts, blossoming Toronto-based producer Dabin just unveiled the record's first single, and it's a doozy. Throughout a breathtaking arrangement featuring hypnotic vocals from Jenna Pemkowski, Dabin demolishes genre boundaries while somehow staying under a melodic umbrella, delivering a forward-thinking gem that should set the tone for an increasingly saturated bass music scene.

"You & I" arrives on Kannibalen Records, a Montréal-based electronic imprint perhaps best known for launching the career of dubstep kingpin Snails. By brilliantly interspersing nasty guttural bass shots with euphoric, radiant synths, Dabin manages to craft a euphonic sound while concurrently catering to Kannibalen's reputation for dark electro music. With its glittering soundscapes and glitchy arpeggios, "You & I" presents an amalgamation of melancholy and gritty rarely heard in modern dance music.
Just for good measure, Dabin, a classically trained musician, also lays down a languid guitar riff that culminates in the track's emphatic final drop. If this is what we can expect from Dabin's forthcoming album, we are in for a treat.
