If you haven't heard of Vancouverite On Planets yet, brace yourself for a whimsical sensation of tasteful beats heavily saturated in quirk and emotion. The producer stunned the SoundCloud scene almost a year ago with his somber and eloquent original "Brief Pause", featuring his own vocals. What On Planets does to set him aside as unique is challenge the definition of electronic music, displacing synths into an expansive world of organic sounds and an unfamiliar resonance of that realm. He tastefully merges the world of chilling indie sounds with the innovation and malleability of futuristic trends.

On Planets has crafted his first release of the year, "Cure," to be released via Majestic Casual Records, on his forthcoming EP Personal Space. "Cure" begins with an immediate detonation of sparkling synths and Wharton's humble and sincere vocals. The pulsating beat, vocal blips and punchiness creates for a more playful side to On Planets work. This contrast creates a unique sonic correlation between Wharton's calm vocals and the perky attitude of the sound design. Upon further listen, the track seemed to have a strong effect on me, eerily taking me back to something surprisingly familiar. Reflecting on personal memories, the emotional overcoat of "Cure" was reminiscent of an all time favourite, Beat Radio's "Treetops", a band I once listened to in my early high school days. This nostalgic connection solidified a more reverent appreciation for On Planet's work, as he strings together sentimental frequencies in a updated warmth through his production.
Regarding his latest release, On Planets states, "Cure is kind of about a lot of things, but mainly about feeling conflicted and polarized/caught in between opposing sides. The song is about trying to find the convoluted and limp middle ground when each polar extreme is so straightforward and simple."
