We Are Loud achieve unique crossover bliss on "Stay High"

The name of the Dutch production duo behind our latest first-listen might be deceiving. We Are Loud might sound like they’re about to deliver the biggest of big room house tracks, but on their latest, “Stay High,” they’ve employed other talents that combine knowledge of electronic production and pop music together. The track features soul-searching, commanding vocals from IDA, and is an interesting turn in a new direction for Dutch powerhouse label Spinnin’ Records. It’s as if they’re acknowledging dance music’s infiltration into pop, but looking to take back control of what has evolved into “rhythmic pop.” So many cookie cutter tracks have emerged out of that sound, with it usually being unclear if a DJ or a pop artist is behind something. But on “Stay High,” We Are Loud has achieved something that’s catchy, low-tempo, but also edgy and far-off from the cookie cutter radio house. On “Stay High,” with the assistance of IDA’s unforgettable vocals, the collaborators behind the track have seemingly hit a note, resurrecting melancholy of indie electronica that reminds us of Zero 7, with an upbeat, accessible production style.

“Stay High” is out tomorrow.
