Manchester is Grime. That's what natives to the rainy UK city have been screaming since the early 2000's. There's so much focus and emphasis on the UK's biggest city, London, that artists from other areas often get overlooked. That was the case, however, until the last couple of years, where other parts of the United Kingdom have been getting the spotlight shone on them. This has lead to artists finding more ways to get their music heard, and for one of Manchester's most prominent figures, Slay, it can only be a good thing.
The video for his latest track "ManLike" is the epitome of Grime music. Stripped back, raw visuals? Check. All black tracksuit? Check. Industrial backdrop? Check. What Slay does with the Kiel-produced beat is infectious. The catchy, chant-along hook, latches onto your ears, and the flow that he spits his verses with rides the instrumental so smoothly.
