As a young kid who wasn't allowed to listen to hip hop,Freequency fell in love with the music of artists like Erykah Badu and Steel Pulse. He grew up in a suburb 15 minutes away from Austin, Texas. Like many others before him, this would shape the sound of the music he creates. Austin has been a big part of his early career, influencing him as both a person and an artist.
In 4th grade, Freequency's step dad showed him hip hop music through burnt CDs in their garage. One of these stood out to him: a 20 song CD filled with only Eminem tracks. As far as rap, Freequency credits Eminem and later Tupac as his biggest inspirations.
Today EARMILK gets the chance to release a special EP by Freequency titled Sunset Music. This EP is a fitting title due to the wavy sound it uses to place you in a carefree mood. I can't imagine anyone listening to this and not wanting to cruise quickly down the road on a summer day. The best part of this laid back EP is that it doesn't sacrifice rhythmic perfection for great lyricism. Every time you listen to each track on Sunset Music you are sure to catch a new entendre or bar that is as hard as the hook is hypnotic. It is the epitome of feel-good music. Freequency's authenticity is showcased through the undeniable passion that shines through every song. On each track, he harnesses incredible production and uses it to create a feeling unlike anything else. The Texas emcee is clearly on the way to making a name for himself, and Sunset Music is the perfect way to begin his uphill journey through the music world.
