Smino blesses us with “blkswn”

Yo, I really want to write this article in all caps because thats how hard I fuck with Smino. People often ask me who my favorite rapper in the game is and usually I'm like fuck outta here with those types of questions cause I'm horrible at making decisions. But for the past year, my answer has been Smino. At midnight STL time and 9pm Cali time, Smino blessed us with the title track to his upcoming album titled "blkswn" produced by my favorite beatmaker and Seattle native, Sango.

I fiend his sound so hard that I was the 9th play once it was released on Soundcloud. IF THAT'S NOT DEDICATION THEN I DONT KNOW WHAT IS. I praise Smino for so many reasons. For starters, his tone is like nothing you've ever heard in your life. Inside his rap-sing fusion he blends talking, singing, moaning, rapping and praying all at once. It's so authentic that you can immediately identify his sound the moment he opens his mouth. He doesn't sit there and spit the normal 16 bar verses in the same cadence – he bends, breaks, molds, crafts and re-creates the genre of hip-hop as a whole. Smino & Sango have us straight seduced over this track. The beat storms like a heavy rain as Smino melts his bars over the drums while weaving his vocals through the keys. If this is any preview on how tight his album is going to be, then I'll just be patiently waiting for it's release hour after hour until it comes out. And then probably have this song on replay for the rest of 2016 and likely most of 2017.
