We have something in common with Russ Chimes today: an affinity for the latest track from rising vocalist Christa V. "Futureproof" is the fourth single from her forthcoming album Makeshift Happiness, that's due out on November 25th of this year. And it's no wonder Chimes stepped up to remix the track, with his own electronic roots deep in everything from soul to the underground. Christa V herself has appealed from a range of electronic artists, from veteran Paul Oakenfold to the BBC Radio 1 MC's like MistaJam. "Futureproof" has the appeal of referencing 90's R&B for familiarity and nostalgia, with the edge of a basement production and world music.
Chimes has brought bass into "Futureproof," building a new electronic soundscape around Christa V's smooth-as-Sade vocals. As the track progresses, the bass and melodic progressions make this more and more into a danceable remix.
