How do I even begin to express my love for Baauer? It surprises me that just a couple years back, I was fairly indifferent to electronic music. Witnessing the producer perform live and watching the audience go completely ballistic to his sound altered my thoughts on this. The trap connoisseur has made a significant impact on the electronic scene, providing innovative twists to break the standards of bass and trap music. It's been a busy year for the producer as he's dipped his feet in many endeavours. His highly anticipated album Aa, included some game-changing features from M.I.A, Future, G-Dragon among many others. Additionally, on Sept. 16th, Baauer announced his new residency on Apple Music Beats 1, "Studio B". The show runs through every Friday night until November 25th.

As the first release following his debut album, Baauer reveals "How Can You Tell When It's Done?" alongside upcoming producer C.Z. If you haven't heard of Colby Zinser yet, mark him down as one to watch. C.Z's signature is quirky and inventive, dabbling in the more unorthodox side of bass music. The outcome of the collaboration is an extremely colorful work and fine-tuned sonic exploration of the two's diverse palettes. The intro wastes no time and immediately jumps into an amplified bliss of heavy bass and jarring beats. The energy is then tapered into a more airy sublime, with glossy blips and a smooth brass to tie it all together. The track speaks as a conversation and highlights the yin and yang between more intense compositions and the feathery tenacities of the work.
The dynamic soundscape references to the age old question all producers face, "How Can You Tell When It's Done?". In that strive for perfection that all musicians encounter, Baauer and C.Z. deliver a perfectly imperfect tune. Through "How Can You Tell When It's Done?". the producers combine opposing forces within one track and somehow deliver an inexplicably enticing work of madness.
