Bass music is having a glory moment, with artists like Marshmello and Jauz bringing the heavier side of dance music to its forefront and bringing in new fans. But where does that leave dubstep? The original hip hop-inspired leg of house, it's been declared "dead" multiple times. Artists like gLAdiator have lightened up their sound along with the trend, and though Skrillex still has his hand in the genre now and again, his stardom is past being genre-classified.
But today, we saw a flicker of life over in the dubstep world. Make that a fire, lit by Chicago's KTRL. After going on a few month hiatus, KTRL dropped "Guess Who" this week as a free download, exposing a new, amazing side to his music. With a unique blend of complextro, trap and dubstep "Guess Who" is a game changer.
