NAKAYA is a 20-year old singer-songwriter who is currently attending the prestigious Clive Davis Institute of NYU, where she has been honing in on an intimate brand of experimental folk that is stitched out of bits and pieces of R&B, soul, and ambient music. Last year the aspiring artist released her debut Out of Breath EP, which was lauded by publications for her tender songwriting and it's blend of genre conventions to create strikingly serene ballads of self-acceptance, love loss, and love found.

NAKAYA has recently resurfaced with a new single entitled "Lose it too". It is a somber composition that has NAKAYA straying more on the electronic side of things, utilizing a bed of soft synth melodies as a slowly building backdrop for her impassioned vocal to soar over. She continues to prove herself as a true songwriting talent by accurately conveying the feeling of desiring a person to the point of obsession. In a brief statement with Pigeons and Planes. she states:
“A lot of love we see in the media is reciprocated, but I’ve had many experiences of unrequited love that are simply out of my control. You learn to create a heightened allure to the one you want to be with, regardless of it’s truth. As I wrote the song, I began to recognize these feelings, without growing overwhelmed by them.”
