Dutch DJ and producer Paul Mayson has been building a steady following on social media, garnering hundreds of thousands of SoundCloud listens over the past year thanks to a string of infectious melodic house originals. His latest song, "Paralyzed", out now on Don Diablo's Hexagon label and Spinnin' Records, is sure to continue Mayson's hot streak. The track is built off a funky bassline and newcomer singer-songwriter John Quarles' impossibly soulful vocals (think Zak Abel or Will Heard). Funk guitar and piano chords fill in intermittently leading into the chorus where Quarles sings "I am paralyzed, but it, but it, but it feels so right," (good luck getting that phrasing out of your head) and a house beat comes roaring in alongside undeniably catchy guitar shredding (also courtesy of Quarles). "Paralyzed" presents a welcome mix of funk/soul with some of dance music's trendiest genres, like deep and tropical house. Give Paul Mayson and John Quarles' new track a listen below.
