We first came across Toyboy & Robin just a year ago, and since, the UK house prodcution and DJ duo has made some big moves. It's no wonder their sound – comprised of their influences from 1990's R&B, hip hop and of course, UK garage – has been a part of the movement creating the next generation of contemporary house sound. And after releasing their Studio 7 EP via Big Beat Records (and playing at their Miami Music Week showcase), Toyboy & Robin have another original to let loose on the dance music imprint.
The track, entitled "Can't Love Me," is the perfect medium between an energetic, groovy house and lighthearted, upbeat crossover dance pop. Essentially, the perfect UK radio hit. With soulful vocals from Finnli that are a reminder of dance's golden age in the 90's and a solid bassline and sincopated hi hat, "Can't Love Me" looks back to its inspirations as much as it looks forward with freshness. Out tomorrow, June 10th, "Can't Love Me" is simply a summertime banger.
