There’s just something special about Berlin and how it can influence an artist’s trajectory. One such artist, Simina Grigoriu, changed from a style that was mainly influenced by hip-hop growing up in Toronto to being influenced by the likes of Adam Beyer, Josh Wink, and Juan Atkins after moving to Berlin. Susumu Records, a Frankfurt imprint, put out her debut album, Exit City. After taking a year and a half off of producing for maternity leave, Simina Grigoriu is back today on Swedish label HMWL (House Music With Love) for a two track tech-house Hop Scotch EP with a bonus deep house remix of the second track, “Just Plane Drunk,” by Drumcode’s very own John H & M.E.E.O.

John H & M.E.E.O. set the tone of the remix with a crisp, yet almost loose, percussion and a strong, driving beat. John H & M.E.E.O. bring an absolutely smooth lower end to the remix that fits in perfectly below the unfolding synths above. After about four minutes of building and rolling back the track, the remix is allowed to reach its final stage with the help of the stunning sunrise piano chords from the original track.
