EDM's favourite sugary confection is back and this time with high profile fan-oriented label Monstercat. The label recently released a track from producer Slushii, who additionally has received heavy support from Marshmello. The mysterious producer has found anonymity in his favor and has shown the world a signature thumping future bass aesthetic. Already gracing the stage at the world's most popular EDM festivals including Ultra, the producer is gradually enveloping the scene with hype and a strong mantra to shift the importance from identity to music itself.

His latest single, "Alone," really seemed to struck an obscure chord in me. The track stands out as Marshmello's most memorable and unique work. He absurdly seems to string together fragments of my childhood with what I perceive as influence from hardcore DDR tracks to pop punk anthems. Simplistic chord progression and an indelible melody toppled over voluminous synths create an overall positive energy throughout the glistening tune. Moving forward, it seems Marshmello is paving the way to really dignify his signature sound and retains the ability to pump an audience.
