It doesn't seem like too long ago when we first covered the hype of slushii also known as "Julian S.". The producer had released three tracks within 24 hours and had immediate support from substantial names in the electronic scene including Brillz and Marshmello. The producer hides behind the disguise of a cutesy anthropomorphic slushy and has released a massive remix of Galantis' "In My Head" and dub infused originals such as "Take My Hand". In the span of two months, mystery producer marshmello has taken him under his wing and the electronic world has been buzzing over each release ever since. Slushii's sudden growing traction as an artist is indicative of the success in anonymity; taking face away from the game and attempting to redirect focus to the music.
Slushii finds his niche in the market with a distinct technologic inspired future sound. This future sound present is expansive and can be found in his more glittery future bass works or grimy works that boast the most jarring drops. Slushii's latest "Emptiness" is released by fan oriented electronic label Monstercat. The label is best known for their tight knit community and other-worldly tunes from artists including Aero Chord, Mr FijiWiji, Pegboard Nerds, Vicetone and more.
"Emptiness" begins with striking drum work and silky female vocals that set the tone for what you'd expect to be a euphoric melodic track. Inversely, the drop flips the track completely, by punching in a dubby drop filled with an unforeseen exceptional grit. Don't be fooled by the adorable caricature of slushii, this one goes hard and will definitely have listeners banging their heads to the filthy beat delivered. "Emptiness" is exemplary of slushii's rise to centre stage as more than an internet phenomenon, proving himself as a musical chameleon in his diverse talents with each release.
