Kane Russell, better known by his peers from Central to Southeast Virginia as Conscious Kane is one of the few rap entities that have made waves without an insane body of work. After the release of his Stability EP last year, his network has grown even larger, but the wave making began long before that. Aside from being a fairly comprehensive lyricists on the losing side of having a substantial message worth pounding into your head, Kane has been an advocate and played an integral role in growing the musical infrastructure in the 757 area. Whether that be linking artist, showing support and spreading the word about friends like Masego, or even filling other shoes in the studio (he sometimes produces as well), he's always involved and adding to the culture.
So, when I received this email last week and saw that he had partnered up with Norfolk emcee Al-Dom$, a powerhouse of wordplay and style, I knew this track would deliver – and it does. Produced by up and coming producer, Andre Joyner, out of Hampton, Va. this track reminds us of what Tupac prophesied years ago about where we are culturally, not just in hip-hop but as a civilization. Kane and Dom$ teach like true disciples. Make sure to keep a lookout for more work from the artist as he preps another project to be released in the near future.
