If the recent remix of Miguel’s “Waves” was any indication, the touch of Tame Impala vibe god Kevin Parker can turn any track into cosmic gold. Case in point: this week’s “Anesthetized Lesson” by GUM, an already trippy dance jam turned mega celestial by the meticulous producer’s re-mastering.
GUM is the side project of Parker’s bandmate and POND multi-instrumentalist, Jay Watson, who plays the keys as a member of Tame Impala while splitting off into his solo work. Clearly, there’s something magical between the two, and we thank them for their genius camaraderie every time we hit “replay” on this retro sugar rush.
“When Kev offered to do a remix of ‘Anesthetized Lesson,’ I jumped at the chance because I knew he could make it sound wild,” Watson told Pitchfork. “He didn’t let me down!”
