Montreal-based dark wavers Essaie Pas recently popped up on the EARMILK radar, and following fast on their heels is another Montreal band with a kindred spirit, the trio Paupière. Their combination of catchy and gloomy is a charming one, placing sultry French lyrics over gothic synth pop. Paupière's debut release is the Jeunes instants EP, a four-track collection of dark dance floor gems.
