Collaborations always extract the best from two parties, braiding a strand of musical talents which result in the the highlighting of two artists skill set. Bass-head favourite G Jones is known for his innovative take on electronic music, using jarring synthetic sounds over grimy beats drowned in fitted bass. The Santa Cruz-based producer is currently on his North American tour. Vancouver-bred, Ekali has garnered attention in the scene for his clean edits and deconstructive approach in production, which is injected with an immersive enigma. Ekali has recently blessed the music world with a stunning rendition of Flume's "Smoke & Retribution", adding a creative bass flair. Both producers are constantly developing cutting edge music and are known to be genre-benders in the scene with inventive compositions.
Together, G Jones and Ekali have collaborated in a track that goes hard in the most sinister manner. "Dark Matter" brings together Ekali's silky and dimensional aesthetic with G Jones, heavy and sinister approach. The track begins with a menacing looped melody which draws listeners into to a hypnotic state. Containing a technological atmosphere, the track also borrows industrial sounds to format a distinctly hip-hop influenced beat. "Dark Matter" does not pose as your typical trap tune, as it steers emotions into daunting corners of the mind with its sweeping breaths and shrill background synths. Sporting the dirtiest of noises amongst the cleanest and crispest of sound design, "Dark Matter" comes together as an audible paradox that taints our musical palettes with rich sensations.
