Northern Ireland’s Gary McCartney, better known as Ejeca, has been steadily rising in the ranks for the best part of five years now. Elevating with '90s house and garage-tinged tracks, "Horizon" being the best reference point. Releasing on 2020 Vision, Aus Music, Sasha’s Last Night On Earth label, and most recently remixing Ramiro Lopez for Suara, Ejeca has become quite the seasoned producer. Having set-up his own imprint Exploris in 2014, today marks the first release of the year for the label with his newest EP titled Meme, displaying the producer's evolved skill set sonically.
Named after one of the best things to come out of the internet, opener and title track "Meme," wastes no time in getting those dance floor sweat glands perspiring with its soaring organ stabs and vocal snippets. "Obide" is as equally energised, combining more percussive elements, adding to this four tracker's club ready appeal. Fellow Belfast boys, Chris Hanna and T-Bone & Slurrp, throw down remixes of "Meme," both reinventing it with a more rugged feel, the latter adding a thudding kick drum into the picture.
