French electronic collective Point Point seem to have a knack for narratives in their craft. If you've caught their recent music video for "Life in Grey" released off OWSLA, it is apparent that their music and storytelling go well hand in hand. With a consistent cinematic sound, there is plenty of magic to be found in Point Point's music. Made up of Alesia and Aazar, Point Point's technique in sound design is both ear pleasing and garners the ability for sound to translate into visualizations; activating the imagination.
"F+L" is a twisted homage to the Kanye West classic "Flashing Lights", with Point Point adding a sullen touch. "F+L" kicks off with moody strings setting a darker tone to the track and instantly tugging at the feels. As tension builds in the movement of the strings, the listener is suddenly faced with an anti-climatic ringing descent. The track continues with a plucky synth lead and subtle French House vibes to create a full and explosive ballad. This continues over a simple hip hop beat infused with emotional distress. The strings make a return towards the outro and bring the musical narrative to a poignant end. In Point Point's reinterpretation of "Flashing Lights", the track presents itself as an afterword to the original, possessing qualities of synesthesia and toying at all of the human senses.
