You may or may not already know who mysterious producer Wingtip is. The producer has a respectable 2k following on SoundCloud, which is sure to grow. His page shares several danceable originals, highlighting a palette of bubbly energy, future bass synths and nu-disco soul. The producer is relatively low-key when it comes to his identity, but it is subtlety given away via his twitter.
If you're a fan of Flaxo, you may have noticed his farewell post on his Facebook page. The producer was best known some big name remixes including a trap rework of both Zedd's "Find You" and Cash Cash's, "Take me Home". Over time, the producer would expand his musical horizons to develop a fuller electronic sound, dawdling all genres but always maintaining an emotional core. Flaxo's account on SoundCloud was flagged for several remixes with copyright issues, leading him to drop the name he's used since high school. The San Fran based producer made a long heart-felt statement on the retirement of his "Flaxo" alias, stating he "stopped having fun writing under the Flaxo moniker". As bittersweet the situation is, fans responded with support and expressed excitement in following the next chapter in the artist's life.
Wingtip has come out with a slew of original tracks in the last few months. My introduction to Flaxo's new project was with the track "Daydream". The wispy track is a musical journey with manipulated soulful vocals over a feel good hip hop beat. In Wingtip's most recent, "With Me", the track is fused with an avant-garde groove while referencing 70's disco. The track begins with upbeat and glossy vocal work. The song then transitions into a hyperactive buildup for a funky drop full of pep and underlying melodies. "With Me" is an exhilarating work which marries retro and inventive sound technologies to create a definitive style. Wingtip shows maturity in this transition and jumps into the scene with new concepts, straying far from modern electronic trends instead with a focus on constructing timeless work. Check out "With Me" below.
