LA’s experimental music cosmos is rife with the industry of Matthew David McQueen. In past years, Matthewdavid has released music on Brainfeeder, he's partnered with Stones Throw, and he founded and still operates Leaving Records, one of the scene’s most reliable electronic labels.
Today the impresario announced a new ambient LP under Matthewdavid’s Mindflight: Trust the Guide and Glide. The record will be the latest in a Modern New Age series that presents music as a transcendent medium, one that can transport the listener to a new place if only he/she lets go.
Matthewdavid also revealed “Unfolding Atlantis,” one of the tracks from the forthcoming record. The piece opens with a rush of wind and sweeping pads that are as plush as goose down with a thread count in the thousands. The ambient wash billows patiently over the course of nearly 14 minutes, painting a glossy film over an astral realm. Slowly, the fog lifts to reveal a new, lucent world, a forgotten utopia buried by the sands of time, an Atlantis that has been waiting to be unfolded.
