Richard D. James' Aphex Twin alias was in hibernation for more than a decade before he returned last year with Syro. Since then he's released countless unheard tracks as user18081971 on Soundcloud, and now he's given us one more, "T17 Phase Out," a track he apparently wouldn't have shared had he not been completely hammered.
The quote accompanying "T17 Phase Out" reads: "i prolly i shntnde downoied thi coz im drunki m ena uploaded.." Of course, James is electronic music's biggest prankster, so it could all be a joke. Whatever his level of intoxication, "T17 Phase Out" is yet another unsettling journey into the labyrinthine passageways of Aphex Twin's mind.
