DUST – a fantasy techno trio – is comprised of three musicians readily steeped in the Brooklyn DIY rave scene. Michael Sherburn, John Barclay and Greem Jellyfish have all held important roles in the creation of such vaunted (and now extinct) underground venues as Trip House and 285 Kent. The band of producers announced on Tuesday that they’ll be releasing their debut full-length, Agony Planet, on January 22nd via Mike Simonetti’s new 2MR imprint.
The trio furnished the announcement with a devastating new track called “Breeding Pit.” The song opens with spatters of rhythmic noise, soon buoyed by a relentless primal beat that envelops DUST’s chimerical nightmare. Spectral mutterings and demented melodic blips balance the cavernous and all-consuming bass-work. Any Brooklyn warehouse would (will) come unhinged in deranged mania if "Breeding Pit" ever fills its void. I certainly play to lose my mind to it – can't wait to hear what's next.
