I've been harboring a secret since 2000, the year that Shaggy released his chart-topping hit "It Wasn't Me." I hated, and still hate the song, finding it to be the benchmark for self-involved, terrible pop music. However, a new artist named Brika just made me reconsider my thoughts on the song. The Miami-based singer-songwriter put out an EP about a year ago, and since then has been a bit quiet until now, when she's debuted her cover of "It Wasn't Me." She's successfully transformed the song into a more subtle track, all while demonstrating her vocal talent and wit. Check it out below.
