Despite all the remixes, singles, and EP’s that German electronic duo VIMES has released, it’s surprising to think that Azhar Syed and Julian Stetter haven’t yet put out a debut album. “Kyra” is the first peek we’re getting into their forthcoming full-length. Tapping into their darker side, “Kyra” is the type of track that’s lurking around in the foggy, dark realms. The pulsating hum of the low-end synths really captures the listener as all the scintillating accents swirl around the melodies. From the poppy “Celestial” down to the textured “Ential,” I don’t think we’ve ever gotten something like this from VIMES. They’re truly growing into their sound and this is a brilliant start to unraveling a first album. Look for VIMES’ debut called Nights In Limbo, out February 12th.
