London’s AlunaGeorge does it again with a new remix of PREP’s song “Cheapest Flight.” The smooth, jazzy lounge feel of the original translates perfectly with George Reid’s signature sleek and snappy layered production style that we’ve come to love in AlunaGeorge. The track sounds quite classy in both cases with all of the saxophone floating around, but the remix manages to kill it when the sax drops in.
Stevie Wonder comes to mind when I think about the singer’s voice. His range and the warm, nasaly tone make both cuts of “Cheapest Flight” alluring and jazzy, but in two totally different ways. Prep’s version is like what you would hear out to dinner at some hip and fancy pop-up, whereas the AlunaGeorge mix is better suited for cocktails at a chic underground club in whatever city comes to mind.
