For those who have been following the Soulection collective for the last few years or happened to stumble upon one of the most interesting mixtapes of 2014, The God Complex, GoldLink is a man who needs no introduction. Those recently acquainted or just simply unaware may have heard the artist referred to as a pioneer of "Future-Bounce". The rapper is definitely pioneering something, but handles like that sound forced, limiting, and, quite frankly – gimmicky. With a sound as refreshing and authentic as what he is making – a gimmick is something this is not.
There is not a rapper/singer/vocalist out there that is creating anything remotely similar to what the DMV native is doing at the moment. GoldLink's lyrical cadence and range over the music of dance floor specialist like Kaytranada and Sango, combining elements of House, Electro, jazz and hip hop is what has allowed the up and coming artist to land XXL's 2015 Freshman Cover, headline major festivals like Trillectro and carve out his own lane. Put plainly, GoldLink makes jams, and while listeners may relate on a lyrical level, its his prerogative to make you move.
The rapper puts his head together with friend and longtime collaborator, the incredible Louie Lastic, to make "Spectrum" , the second single from his debut LP And After That, We Didn’t Talk. This warm and upbeat body rocker revives thoughts of summer and will without a doubt get you sweating on the dance floor. The album is slated for release on November 13th on the UK's Black Butter Records.
