Marco Polo is one artist that's always in full rotation on my rap playlists. Maybe it's because the Toronto turned New York producer has worked with some of my favourite rappers, including Masta Ace, Pharoahe Monch and Talib Kweli. Maybe it's because I'm a rap fiend who can't get enough of his thumping, head nodding style. Regardless, he's made a name for himself; I wish more hip hop fans were aware of his discography. To celebrate his first tour through Japan, Polo has unearthed an old but new gem in the form of "Gifted" for us to vibe with.

Like much of his previous work, "Gifted" is the type of track that makes you want to get in the studio and lay down a hot 16 even if you've never told your producer to turn your headphones up. A catchy piano intro turns into a low key banger that will be stuck in your head for days The only bad part about the track? At just over 2 minutes, you'll be hitting that rewind button again and again.
The track is but one of 25 from his upcoming project, MPC: Marco Polo Collectables, which is made of up previously unreleased beats from 2002 and 2004. Marco Polo is heading out on his first tour of Japan and will be selling the new album at his shows. If you can't catch him in the Land of the Rising Sun, he'll have a limited amount of copies available for purchase online. Make sure you bump "Gifted" at least a dozen times and support the hardworking artist. If you're a rap fan and need your boom bap fix, don't you dare sleep on this opportunity.
