Whenever Parisian dj/producer Zimmer graces our ears with one of his tunes or mixes, we’re always in for a treat. Despite being in the middle of an extensive tour spanning a few continents, Zimmer managed to squeeze out this new remix for Gallant’s “Weight In Gold.” Both Gallant and this track in particular have been getting a lot of attention, partly because of the Weight In Gold Remixes EP that was released earlier this month.
Although the Zimmer remix does not appear on the official EP, it strikes me as one of the best. Zimmer’s signature horizontal disco style melds perfectly with Gallant’s soulful vocals and modern R&B tendencies. His remix maintains the original’s swaying rhythms and emotive melodies while pinning them against this blissful tropical house exterior. There’s no mention of an official release of Zimmer’s “Weight In Gold” remix, but I’m sure he’ll be playing it out on tour. Check out his next move here.
