Markus Schulz resurrects Dakota alter ego on “Cathedral (Montreal)”

Earlier this year, German-American producer and veteran DJ Markus Schulz announced he would be embarking on a new release schedule, a series more specifically called his City Series. With the release of a single dedicated to various cities he loves and has a connection to, he began with an ode to one of, if not the most iconic city in dance music culture: Miami. He's since traveled through Europe and with his last release in the series, returned to North America by way of Los Angeles.

"Cathedral" is an homage to one of Canada's most iconic cities – especially with its nightlife – Montreal. Schulz has been calling out many of his favorite clubs to play in in his City Series, and this time pays respect to one of the city's most famous clubs, Stereo. Known for playing open-to-close live sets himself, the venue represents that part of Schulz's career through an underground, tech house approach and by reviving the Dakota pseudonym that has been out of the spotlight for over a year. Out on Coldharbour Recordings today, you can also take a listen to the track below or download it via Beatport.
