Diplo has had a huge 2015, and today proves that he's not done with his work just yet. After touring all summer with Skrillex as Jack U, releasing Peace Is The Mission as Major Lazer earlier this year with the chart topping moombahton pop "Lean On" with DJ Snake and MØ, the Mississippi-born, LA-residing DJ and producer has returned under his solo name with a new collaboration that's due out on his own label, Mad Decent, today.
He's partnered with Vancouver's Sleepy Tom, who has built a solid career around garage-inspired, funky bass and electro with tracks like "I Want Your Soul." Today, the focus is all on their collaboration, "Be Right There," just posted to the Mad Decent Soundcloud page about an hour ago. A funky house track, "Be Right There" has punchy bass synth lines, with of course, what would a future hit be today without a great nostalgic 1990's R&B hit's vocal sample. This time it's from the sultry 1992 track from Jade, "Don't Walk Away," which any 90's baby will remember as a chart topping, dance-infused single. It's re-recorded on "Be Right There," and in an interesting way, because of that, doesn't try too hard to emulate the original and instead honors it.
"Be Right There" is the perfect combination of house, infectious melody and energy to be another dance hit that will be all over the radio waves this year.
