Yeah Boy makes you want to “Stay” and listen to his ‘Wildfire’ EP [Premiere]

Following the breakup up indie dance duo Parachute Youth, Johnny Castro has moved on to a new solo project called Yeah Boy. His debut single “Can’t Get Enough” exploded when it hit the dance world last year and now he’s back with another top-notch release to whisk you away. Growing into his sound, Yeah Boy’s new Wildfire EP picks up with right where the soulful, feel-good R&B pop sound of his last release left off. Pillowed production and delicately woven layers of sound come together with hazy vocals for three tracks comprising the EP.

Definitely check out the whole release, but EARMILK has the first taste of the track “Stay.” Personally I think this is the best track on the whole EP. It was recorded at Castro’s home studio with help from his sister KIKI for vocals. The way the production is so muted, yet punchy makes for a really lovely effect. Right from the leading melody you’re hooked, and then the emotive vocals drop in. There’s warmth to the track, but underneath you can sense this eerie feeling that looms around.
