If you've ever caught Doug Appling on tour as Emancipator, chances are good you saw Ilya Goldberg on stage with him, playing the sweeping violin parts that inhabit Appling's music. Now Goldberg, a talented multi-instrumentalist and producer in his own right, is ready to debut as Lapa on Emancipator's Loci record label.
His first LP is called Meeting of the Waters, and if "Roadwalk" is any indication, it will be an immersive world of arboreal ambience, numerous stringed instruments, and downtempo meanderings. It's a clear relative of what Emancipator has given us, and it's great to see him cultivate a group of like-minded artists under the Loci umbrella. Meeting of the Waters is out Sept. 9th, and will feature guest appearances by Random Rab, 9 Theory, and Emancipator.
"Roadwalk" is available as a "pay-what-you-want" price over at Loci's Bandcamp.
