My music taste has matured. I don't know if it's because of my love for soothing music during the holidays, my love for classic hip-hop, or my love for more mellow arrangements, but I'm starting to believe in those songs that make you reflect on your true self. Sure, electronic music supplies that groove factor, but lyrical tracks tell a story. Often times it's a relatable one of love, hardship, expression, or experience. And for that, I've changed.

As my taste develops new forms, I want to keep EARMILK readers in the loop with what I'm listening to as it releases. Today we have a new one from London native Tom Misch. If you think you're taste has matured, listen to one bassline from Misch to really gauge that thought. This one is called "In The Midst Of It All" and it features Sam Wills. Beat Tape 1 was similar to how this track initially comes off, but if you listen closely, Tom is closing holes in his production with every new drop, and this one is clean.

Every Thursday, from now until the August 28 release of Beat Tape 2 via his label Beyond the Groove, Tom vows to reveal a new track taken from the project. From what we've been told, "Beat Tape 2 is an eclectic palate of honeyed soul, downbeat electrix, timeless hip hop, bare-knuckle beats and sees Tom laying his songwriting gifts bare in their purest form."

Following a summer of festival DJ dates, Tom is finalising a live show along with a solo EP, which will be released on his own label later in the year. You can watch a behind-the-scenes video about the making of the new tape here, and listen to "In The Midst Of It All" below:
