Quite often you would associate techno music with pounding kick drums, high tempos and sweat adorned nightclub walls. However, this latest release from Marten Sundberg on Luis Junior's label, Mooseekaa, is rather refreshing.
Hailing from Germany, there is no doubt a deeply rooted appreciation for all things techno embedded somewhere in Marten Sundberg's genetic code. However, the aptly titled Fear of War may well be a peaceful protest against the more aggressive sounds that can often swarm the genre. Title track "Fear of War" charms you in an ever-so-slightly sinister way. Its rich percussion layers the track throughout while deep growls reminiscent of household names such as Ten Walls and Jonas Rathsman create a dark, brooding and club-friendly atmosphere. Second track of the release "Fata Morgana" is all about the beautiful vocal. When you bare in mind that Fata Morgana, in its literal sense, is a type of mirage, every element of production slots into place. The pulsing body of the track is the beating sun while the vocal shimmers in the distance.
With crisp production from start to finish and creativity in abundance, Marten Sundberg is an artist to keep both eyes and ears on. You can purchase the exclusive release right now from Beatport.
