South Florida rapper Denzel Curry dropped a double EP, 32 Zel / Planet Shrooms, today, and with features from Mike Dece, Twelve’Len, Neil, J.K. The Reaper, and Big Rube (of Dungeon Family), this is not one to miss. This is rap music that will appeal to both mainstream and underground fans, and Curry knows how to masterfully grace both the mainstream and underground worlds.
32 Zel, from tracks 1-7, is on that hype shit. He shows off an authoritative attitude with “Envy Me” and also offers the necessary banger with the aggressive “Ultimate”. Then, Planet Shrooms, from tracks 8-14, is on a groovy melodic feel, one that provokes mindfulness. The intro, “Past The Wudz,” gets soulful, and enlists Big Rube for some spoken word, and then, we have “Captain Sea Fonk,” which it is just one hell of a wavy gem.
It’s no wonder, Denzel Curry has amassed a strong cult following, but this kind of sheer tenacity and raw talent is bound to blow up.
